Tia Chuck Behind the Scenes with Ken Little

Mark and I are thrilled to announce that we’ve begun production on Tía Chuck! To be clear, it’s more like we’re restarting production. Looking back through our production notes you can see we started filming for this documentary the day Chuck’s family and friends gathered at the compound to honor his life, November 6th, 2010. We documented events following Chuck’s death. We took time off the project and began grant writing at the end of 2012. We received funding from The Artist Foundation of San Antonio, The Idea Fund, and individual donations in 2013. We started pre-production at the beginning of 2014 and are now in production. The first step in the production of this documentary is interviewing the family, friends, artists, curators, and collectors who played a role in Chuck’s life and legacy.

Tia Chuck Behind the Scenes with Ken Little

Our first interview was with artist and friend Ken Little at his studio. Ken has been a integral part of the San Antonio Art Community since the late 80’s. He has funny stories to tell about his friendship with Chuck and wonderful insight into the work Chuck made. We are very grateful to Ken for giving us an afternoon to talk about his memories of Chuck. We sat down with artist Gary Sweeney yesterday afternoon, and have set interviews artist Chris Sauter, writer Anjali Gupta, and Chuck’s sister Patricia Marcus. We will continue to schedule interviews over the next several weeks. I’m looking forward to sharing our progress throughout the summer!
