Hello Supporters,
It’s hard to believe it’s been 7 years since we lost Chuck. It seems like so long ago, but also like it was just yesterday. We want to thank everyone who has been a part of keeping Chuck’s legacy alive. It brings us so much joy to see the community attending exhibitions of Chuck’s work and sharing their memories of him. On that note, here’s an update on the progress of our feature length documentary film.

Behind the Scenes

We’ve been filming supplemental scenes and recreations for this film the last few months. We’ve also been editing after each film shoot, so we’re continuing to see the final film come together. Here are some behind the scenes photos and film stills from the supplemental scenes we’ve shot since August.

Each of these scenes was inspired by Chuck’s artwork or personal stories he shared in archive interviews that connect to a series he made. We hope to bring context to the inspiration behind his artworks, so the the audience can connect more deeply with his creative process. Special thanks to McNay Art Museum, Casa Chuck, San Antonio AIDS Foundation, Bradley’s N Billiards, and The Frey Family for helping us film these on-location scenes. We’re looking forward to finishing up filming for these supplemental scenes this month.

Production Schedule Update

As we’ve mentioned in previous posts, we have committed to complete this film and have a screening at the McNay Art Museum during the run of Chuck Ramirez: All This and Heaven Too. The exhibition runs through January 14th and our screening date is TBA. We’ve begun having conversations with venues to set screening dates and will be sharing those with our supporters soon!

Thank you as always for your support,
Angela Walley, Director
